This artwork is painted in the spirit of Victorian postcards and illustrations of violets. It’s sentimental in nature as it nods to “floriography,” which Victorian society often practiced by delivering bouquets of flowers to loved ones. These arrangements served as secret messages in light of strict communication etiquette, and violets were regarded as a romantic gesture symbolizing modesty and fidelity.
